Making Employees Happy: Keeping Them for the Long Run
Keeping good employees happy is super important for a company to do well.
Paying them well is one thing, but there are other ways to make them want to stay around.
It’s almost two years since I started RK Digital. Here are some of the things I’ve learned.
Firstly, make the workplace a nice place to be. Talk openly with your employees, help them learn new stuff, and make sure they get along well with each other.
When they feel appreciated, they’re more likely to stick around.
Secondly, give them chances to move up in their job and learn new things. It’s exciting for employees when they see they can grow in their careers. Offer training, let them try new things, and give them more responsibility.
Also, let them have a good balance between work and their personal life. Everyone needs a break sometimes. Encourage them to take time off, set fair deadlines, and let them work flexibly when possible.
We work 80% remote and meet once a week to realign things.
Besides that, it’s really important to say thank you and recognise when they do a good job. Even a simple pat on the back or a little bonus can make a big difference. Feeling appreciated makes employees happy.
Be really generous giving credits and appreciation. It doesn’t cost a thing.
Lastly, make sure everyone feels like they belong. It’s important for everyone to feel respected and included no matter who they are.
Encourage diversity, help everyone feel like they’re part of the team, and make sure no one feels left out.
In short, while paying workers well is important, there are lots of other things you can do to keep them happy.
Making the workplace a nice place to be, giving them chances to grow, helping them have a good balance between work and personal life, saying thanks, and making sure everyone feels like they belong are all important ways to keep good workers around.
How else would you do it?
